APO plays the Are You Listening? Festival 2019
A small string ensemble from APO played the 2019 Are You Listening? Festival on Saturday 27th April. It’s the first time a classical act has been invited to play at Reading’s award-winning multi-venue charity music festival, and we opened proceedings at St. Laurence Church with a set of increasingly folk-inspired music, starting with movements from Grieg’s Holberg Suite, then moving on to some of Warlock’s Capriol Suite, before finishing with the whole of Holst’s St. Paul’s Suite.
We were bowled over by the response from an enthusiastic and engaged crowd – a very different experience to playing a formal concert, with the audience standing so close to the players, and many dancing along to the music. Thanks so much to the organisers for inviting us – we had a blast!
