A Romantic Trio
A programme brings together three intimately connected voices of the Romantic era: Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms. Their music reflects a world of shared inspiration, deep friendship and intertwined artistic lives. Brahms’s Serenade No. 2, dedicated to Clara Schumann, opens the programme with its mellow, woodwind-rich warmth; Clara Schumann’s Four Songs, in David A. Rahbee’s sensitive orchestration, reveal her lyrical clarity and emotional poise; and Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 2 crowns the evening with resilience, contrapuntal brilliance and radiant optimism. This special programme celebrates the music, friendships and shared artistic vision of three of the nineteenth century’s most compelling musical voices.
