Addition to ‘Music of Desire’ programme
We’ve added an extra piece to our ‘Music of Desire’ programme, which will be performed on Saturday 2nd February, 2019, at The Great Hall of the University of Reading.
The additional work is Elgar’s much-loved ‘Salut D’Amour’, which will be performed after the world premiere of Laura Shipsey’s Samara, and directly before (without a break) the climax of the programme: the Prelude and Liebestod to Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde.
APO Music Director, Andrew Taylor, explained the change: ‘Although there were already five pieces in the programme, adding the Elgar to the second half balances it nicely, taking the intensity level down for a few minutes – albeit with a yearning, more restrained and ‘English’ desire!’
Discounted early bird tickets for ‘Music of Desire’ are on sale now. Watch out for a blog post from Andrew, in due course, explaining the premise of the programme.
We’re also just going to leave a tease here to say there’ll be news in due course about APO performances at two of Reading’s best-loved music festivals, next year…more to follow!
