Covid-19 update – effect on events

Like the rest of the world, APO members are finding ways to cope with the Covid-19 pandemic. Musically, several members are posting videos of solo performances online and others are taking part in a weekly online quiz to keep in touch, socially.

The APO committee has been considering the impact on APO events. The string workshop programme is suspended until further notice. It’s clear that the planned ‘Beethovenathon’ cannot go ahead on Sunday 21st June. In the unlikely event of lockdown restrictions being lifted to bring together an orchestra on this date, we’ll pick a favourite Beethoven overture and symphony (and maybe one or two other short Beethoven pieces), and see if we can raise an orchestra to have an informal read through of these pieces. If this isn’t possible on 21st June, we might do the same at a later date, when restrictions have been sufficiently lifted.

APO members have been sent their online fixing forms for October’s planned #InspiringJohnWilliams programme. The APO committee will identify a date on which a decision will be made to postpone this concert, should lockdown restrictions not have been lifted.

We are desperate to make music together again. We wish all of our members, patrons, APO Young members and followers the very best at this difficult time.
