Violas, Cellos and Double Basses sought to boost Mahler 3 numbers

Preparations are in full swing for our performance of Mahler’s Third Symphony, on Saturday 20th October, at The Great Hall, University of Reading. Like most Mahler symphonies, it requires a huge orchestra, included more strings that we’d normally field. Happily, we are overflowing with violins, and while viola, cello and bass numbers are very healthy for one of our normal concerts, we need a few more to balance out the fiddles for this one!

So, if you’re an experienced viola, cello or bass player and would like the opportunity to perform Mahler 3 with a high standard amateur orchestra, do get in touch. Our Strings Co-ordinator, Tina, will be delighted to hear from you. Click here to email her.
