Repertoire Weekend 2010
Following the success of previous events, the Aldworth Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, are holding another repertoire weekend open to all orchestral players, and singers, from Reading and surrounding areas. There's a limit to what APO can learn in our usual 22 hours of rehearsal time for our concerts, so we're taking a further opportunity to spend a weekend working on some very challenging pieces, again with the help of professional tutors.
This year's repertoire will be decided once we gauge the number of players interested in the event. You can suggest repertoire on our Repertoire Wiki here
As well as traditional workshops and masterclasses, there will be opportunities to take part in some special activities, which in the past have included a drumming/percussion workshop, and Pilates.
All music will be supplied. We will also be arranging to get copies out in advance (via web to print at home, or photocopies as preferred).
We would like to extend the workshop opening out to musicians from other orchestras, and choral groups from the area. All choral parts are welcome, and we would especially like to see tenor/bass parts well represented. For the orchestra, there are plenty of string parts available. Priority for wind and brass parts will be given to our own members, but enquiries are very welcome.
APO will make every attempt to accommodate all participants comfortably. The venue is suitable for mobility impaired. Please let us know of any special requirements you may have.
Please note there are specific timings for choir and orchestra which will be made available separately.
