Young Composers Award winner announced!

APO is delighted to announce that Jenni Pinnock is the winner of this year’s Young Composers Award. As ever, the standard of entries was very high. Jenni impressed us with the clarity of her ideas and compositional voice.

Fresh from taking part in Making Music’s ‘Adopt a Composer’ scheme, collaborating with the Quangle Wangle Choir in Dorset, Jenni will be commissioned to write a piece to be premiered at Reading Town Hall on Saturday 17th January 2015, in a programme also featuring Elgar’s Cello Concerto and Vaughan Williams’ Pastoral Symphony.

Both these works have a relationship to the First World War, in particular the irrevocable change that it brought about. Jenni’s vision for her piece is to reflect on irrevocable change that is happening around us now: climate change. We are looking forward to working with her in the coming months to realise this vision. Congratulations, Jenni!
